Using the NAS
The admin interface can only be accessed from inside the school or with the VPN, at address and port https://137.194.176.15:5001/.
The file transfer service can be accessed both inside and outside the school (so that you can easily work with external partners). There are two ways to get and add files :
- Samba (or SMB) from you OS’s file explorer, which seems to be more stable on the school network (in that configuration, the web interface doesn’t seem able to deal well with big file transfers). From inside the school (or through the VPN), you can access it by typing \OL_NAS_01 in a file explorer in Windows, or smb://OL_NAS_01 in macOS. From outside the school, you should use the public IP address of the NAS instead, so \137.194.176.15 in a file explorer in Windows, and smb://137.194.176.15 in macOS
- and a web interface provided by the brand of the NAS (Synology), at address https://137.194.176.15:37001/
You should always make an additional backup of the files that are put on the NAS. In the Studio Design and Observation Lab, ask the manager for an external orange LaCie USB-C hard drive where the files are duplicated.
