ARTEFACT 1st year projects
Teacher(s)
Mickaël BOUHIER, Tarik GRABA, Jean LE FEUVRE, Stéphane SAFIN
(coaching on the collaborative processes by Julien MOREL, Emilien GHOMI and Stéphane SAFIN)
Goals
Discover group work (analysis, design, project management, production, internal and external communication) and collective skill and knowledge acquisition, through the making of autonomous robots communicating wirelessly
Institution and classes
Ingénieur (Telecom)
Number of students
All the engineering students in their 1st year
Duration
57h + personal work
Theoretical and practical grounds
- Technical side: wireless communication, embedded programming, computer vision, automation, digital fabrication
- Human side : collaboration and project management
Equipment (rooms, tools, materials, software...)
Knowledge to acquire
All the sessions are practical sessions and all the acquired knowledge is directly related to the skills developped by the students
Skills to develop
- Technical side : developping programs for a single board computer (raspberry pi), using peripherals (camera, digitally controlled motor driver). Detecting and following visual clues. Establishing a client / server architecture for wifi communication. Designing and implementing a state machine for autonomous target acquisition, orientation and coordination of the robots. Developping a webpage for direct manual control of the robots. Modelling, lasercutting and 3d printing the chassis
- Human side : analysis and distribution of tasks, team communication, planning and time management, team building, ensuring that every member of the team has acquired all the skills and knowledge related to the project
